School Mission Statement
Villanova Junior High School is a learning community that exists to enrich the lives of students by improving student achievement and motivation in a safe, caring, and healthy collaborative learning environment.
Villanova Junior High has a long history on the beautiful shores of Conception Bay. Situated along the historic Manuels River, Villanova opened under its new name, and a new configuration, in it's new building, September 2002. Prior to that time, Villanova Junior High was better known as St. Thomas of Villanova. As St. Thomas of Villanova, the school boasted a long history and at various times served not only as a junior high but also served as a senior high and a primary/elementary building. Throughout its history, the school developed a reputation for providing a quality education to students in what is now referred to as Conception Bay South. At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year our configuration changed again. We are now a grade 5 to 8 school.
Villanova Junior High is part of the Newfoundland & Labrador English School District which has 262 schools with approximately 68,000 students. We are a grade 5 to grade 8 school with a population of 636 students.

August 21, 2009
Today's Parent magazine recently announced its Top 20 schools in Canada. Villanova Junior High in Conception Bay South made it to the Top 20 list in the Passionate Principals category.
Here is the summary as it appears in the September 2009 issue:
"Equipping classrooms with computers and interactive whiteboards at Villanova has been a priority for Principal, Barry Jenkins, who worked in the information technology field for five years before getting his teacher's degree. But, says one nominator, it's also his "attention to detail, willingness to collaborate, concern for each and every child and tireless leadership" that help make Villanova the best-kept secret in the school district."
